It was a gauntlet to say the least in the 2A Southeast Idaho Conference last season. For Aberdeen there were plenty of challenges along the way in what was an up and down year, leaving the Tigers ready for another shot at things.

The major focus area to get the team heading in the upward direction this time around is to set and maintain the tempo of games, something third year Head Coach Stephen Grigg thinks his team is well-equipped to do.

"We should have a balanced scoring attack with several players that can score the basketball," said Grigg. "We will dictate the tempo of the game which should leave great scoring opportunities for our team."

Leading the way for the Tigers in the backcourt will be Jake Hall, while Jaxson Wahlen mans the front line.

While those two obvious key cogs are returners from last season, a potential major difference maker exists in Dallon Elliot, a newcomer with the ability to put points up in a hurry.

There is plenty to be excited about in Aberdeen with the group in place.

"I have a great group of young men that love the game and work extremely hard in everything that they do," said Grigg. "They love to compete!"

A couple of areas do exist where the Tigers will be looking for improvement, namely being more disciplined in the offense and not settling for shots.

Defensively expect a change of philosophy to a certain extent as well.

"We didn't press at all last year and want to do so this year," said Grigg.

He wants Aberdeen to play physical and to bring "extreme energy and tempo" on a nightly basis.

"The x-factor is tempo. It's something we want to do and we need to have our opponents play our style of play," added Grigg.

The first in line to battle the Tigers this season will be the Rockland Bulldogs on November 29.
