Burley reached the state semifinals last season behind the scoring punch of leading scorer Britton Garrard and a talented supporting cast.
For 15th year Head Coach Jack Bagley most of that supporting cast is back, although the loss of Garrard will make things a little more difficult for a Bobcats team which has consistently done a great job of reloading year after year.
There is no question what the most exciting aspect of this particular reload is.
"We finally have some size that will allow us more opportunities at the post," said Bagley. "Ryan Bagley’s ability will also bring a lot of excitement to our team."
Offensively things look to be in good hands according the veteran sideline leader.
"Ryan Bagley will be our point guard and he sees the court very well and has the ability to also score. We have good balance between guards and post players."
Everything with this group goes right back to the size though.
Two senior post players are perhaps the most exciting elements of the roster aside from Ryan Bagley in Ace Christiansen and Coty Hackett.
"We have more size this year so our rebounding and post defense should be better," added Bagley.
Always a staple of Burley basketball, don't expect the run and gun mentality to completely exit the building however. In fact, much the opposite, just with a combined element of improved interior play.
"We always like to run. Our post players are athletic and can still run the floor. I think our success will depend on our post players ability to score," said Bagley.
Defensively he hopes to see improved efforts in stopping dribble penetration and continued progression in defending the block.
Burley gets the season started on November 26 with a road affair at Preston.
