“Reap the rewards for the hard work over the summer,” the message first year coach Michael Scott shares with his new squad. Coach Scott is taking over a program that won 6 games a year ago, but wants his current squad, with six senior returners on it, to be reminded daily of that simple message.

The leaders of this squad who will be working every day to achieve this message are seniors Brayden Mento, Brandon Hausladen, and Dock Sommers. Coach Scott speaks very highly of the potential of this group and their abilities to get the team over the wall. Missing is a solid inside piece from last year in PF Daniel Smith who possessed a strong inside presence and even better rebounder.

To “reap the summer rewards” the Tigers will need to control the temp. Coach Scott believes his team will be able to run up and down with any team that may try to do so. They aren’t far away, per their coach. Small, but important, areas need attention every day, every game. The Tigers need to improve their discipline on the court and play smarter, together. These areas will lead to the next level of making better choices with shot selection and increase their shooting percentage.

At the 3A level, this is easier said than done. Especially when you have a team like Kellogg on your schedule that every team in the league is chasing. The calendar is circle early with these games against Kellogg. Coach Scott and his team are preparing for battle putting their focus on the important little things. If this is achieved, the Tigers could be the surprise of the 3A’s this season.
