Clark County advanced to the state semifinals for the first time with a 63-49 win over Kendrick, while Dietrich flirted with a classification scoring record in its 78-47 win over Summit Academy on Thursday night at Caldwell High School.

Those two will meet in one semifinal on Friday, with Council and Genesis Prep meeting in the other.

The 1AD2 single-game record, set last year by Dietrich, is 87 points.  The Blue Devils were on pace to push that record before resting its starters in the fourth quarter of its win.  Dietrich took a 13-point lead after one quarter and never looked back, getting 19 points and eight rebounds from Garrett Astle and a 16-point, eight-rebound night from Jake Smith.  Summit Academy’s Patrick Chmelik was impressive in defeat, scoring 16 points and snaring eleven rebounds – eight of them on the offensive end.  Chris Osborne added 12 rebounds (six offensive) for Summit.

Clark County scored 22 points in the first quarter and held on from there, getting 16 points from Landon May and Tyree Laird.  Tresten Eddens added 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Bobcats before fouling out.  Kendrick tried to chip away in the second half, but could never get back into the game.  Wyatt Hardin had eight points and ten rebounds for the Tigers.

In the early quarterfinals, Genesis Prep got 24 point on 9/11 shooting from Jonny Hillman and 25 points on 11/18 shooting from Caleb Symons.  That duo scored 49 of the Jaguars’ 63 points in a 63-49 win over Rockland in its first appearance at the IHSAA 1AD2 state basketball tournament.

It was the third quarter that made a big difference in the game as the Jaguars came out of the halftime break by out-scoring Rockland, 22-6 in the third frame.  Spencer Permann had 13 points and six rebounds for Rockland.

Meanwhile, Council got 16 points and nine rebounds from Jared Neal as the Lumberjacks used a 19-point second quarter to create separation in a 56-44 win over Carey.  JT Mahon chipped in with 11 points and nine rebounds for Council while Carey got 20 points and ten rebounds from Joe Parke.  For the game, Council out-rebounded Carey, 46-25.
