Returning Varsity Players: 18

Returning Offensive Starters:
QB Sam Hermann, Sr., 6-2 (didn't play QB last season); RB Ryan Borth, Sr., 5-10; OL Chase Flodin, Sr., 5-9; OL Cody Kinyon, Sr., 6-2; TE Allen Berry, Jr., 6-0; WR Brandon Nelson, Sr., 6-1.

Returning Defensive Starters:
CB Brandon Nelson, Sr; CB Ryan Borth, sr.; LB Chase Flodin, SR.; DL Cody Kinyon, Sr., 6-2; DL Tyler Stout, Jr., 5-10; DE Allen Berry, Jr.; DE Sam Hermann, Sr.

Key Players Lost:
We lost 4-year letterman and our defensive leader Jaymon Udy, who played linebacker and tailback for us. Jaymon was our emotional leader and will be tough to replace. Also gone is 4-year letterman Danial Carlson at receiver and defensive end. Danial was a big kid with deep threat capabilities. QB/LB Beau Dahmen, 2-year letterman; Tyler Saunders.

Incoming JV Players:
We have a number of young players who could compete for a starting spot or at least significant playing time. We will have a large sophomore class that we will be leaning on to step up and help fill some needed roles.

Offensive strengths/areas for improvement:
Our strength on offense will be our experience and depth at the skill positions. We will look to mix things up with the run and pass. Our questions at this point will be on the offensive line. We will be a bit undersized up front and need to develop a center this year. We lack any real standout players, but will rely on a team concept with a real blue-collar type attitude.

Defensive strengths/areas for improvement:
Our defensive strength should be our team quickness. Again, we will be undersized with questions at the linebacker position. Our corners and defensive ends will have good experience if we can solidify the inside core of the defense.

Special team Strengths:
Punter Allen Berry returns. We will need to develop a kicker.

Conference Outlook:
Our Conference will be very tough again this year. With 10 teams it leaves no room for error. Defending state champion Prairie definitely will be the favorite. After that it could be a battle of five or six teams to make the other playoff spots. Staying healthy in this league is always key to being successful. There will be some coaching changes in our league this year which could have an impact on the league standings as well.

Coach's Team Summary:
Overall, I am excited about the group of players we have coming in this year. They are a pretty close-knit group and will definitely work hard for us. If we can fill some key positions and develop depth, I like our chances to be possible challengers for a playoff spot. We will work hard to play as a team, stay healthy, and improve each week. If we can do that, who knows what we may be able to do.
