Offensive strengths/areas for improvement: Last year the team was fairly inexperienced at many of the key positions. Only 7 of the 26 on the roster had any previous high school experience. Getting many of those athletes back out for football this season will be a key for us. Technically, we should have at least 16 returners this season and hopefully these kids will all come out. I coached this year's seniors when they were freshmen and hope to renew my coaching philosophy, not only with these kids but to build a new tradition with the underclassmen.
Defensive strengths/areas for improvement: We need to be able to play pretty aggressive defense to be able to contain some of the strong running backs.
Offensive Outlook: Depending on who comes out for football, we hope to be able to throw the ball as well as have some quick running backs. It will be key for our line to give our quarterback time to throw and open holes.
Defensive Outlook: We have some experience with Caleb Robbins coming off of his all-conference junior year. I also see potential with the size and athletic abilities of Caleb Bonebrake and Seung Min-Lee. It will take some time for most of us to get used to the new system, but I think we have some pretty good guys returning to work with.
Conference Outlook: We have a small district that includes Garden Valley, Meadows Valley, and Salmon River as we are the only four teams in the 100-and-under classification. Salmon River and Garden Valley were two of the toughest teams in the state last year. GFA's only win of the season last year came against Meadows Valley. We will prepare the kids as best as we can and see if we can grab one of the playoff berths.
Coach's Team Summary: This is my first year back at Greenleaf after two years off. It is my impression that we have some good athletes on the roster to work with. We will practice hard and see what we can get done on the field. It is always a lot of fun to coach the kids at Greenleaf. My expectations are that we will continue to do that while playing some good football.
