Key Players Lost:
We lost a lot of great seniors, but we are looking for our underclassmen to really step up.
Incoming JV Players:
We have a really good and dedicated class of freshman coming in, and I look for great things from them in the future.
Offensive strengths/areas for improvement:
We will have a lot of positions to fill on offense, particularly in the line. We have a proven TE in Devon Mock, but he has also played some QB so he might move there.
Defensive strengths/areas for improvement:
Our defensive line should be our strength. We plan to be a lot more aggressive defensively this coming season.
Special team Strengths:
Special Teams will be very important and finding quality personel will be a key focus of the staff.
Offensive Outlook:
We are installing a new multiple offense that emphasizes ball control and field position. We will be around 2/3 run and 1/3 pass, relying heavily on multiple formations and motion.
Defensive Outlook:
Defensively we plan to be aggressive and come after people. We want to make plays in the backfield, not at the line of scrimmage. Look for lots of pressure.
Conference Outlook:
Historically this has been a very competitive conference, and I expect the same this year. Last year there was a three-way tie between Snake River, Marsh Valley, and American Falls at 2-1 in conference; don't be surprised if it happens again.
Coach's Team Outlook:
I am really excited about the prospects for this coming season. We don't have many returning players, but I believe in the system that we are installing and I think that the kids will really enjoy the diversity and have fun with it. I fully expect to make another playoff run like we did last year. Coach Johnson did a great job last year, and I hope to build off of his success.
Coach's Team Summary:
I am new to Idaho, having coached in Texas for the past 20 years, but everyone I talk to says that Southeastern Idaho Football is really good. I am extremely excited about the prospects that American Falls presents. The citizens of American Falls want a successful program, and I intend to do what I can to see that we produce the best possible football team and best possible student/athletes. The key is to surround myself with the best quality assistants that I can and I feel that I have gathered some of not only the best coaches in the state, but also some of the finest people in the state. These are the kinds of people I want my kids to be around and to be like. So even if we don't win, which we will, I think that our student/athletes will truly benefit from the experience.
