Name: Collin Holloway
School: Lighthouse Christian
Grade: Junior
Sport: Basketball
Position: Point Guard

How did you first get interested in basketball?
When I was little I, grew up watching my dad coach the basketball ball team so I always wanted to play the game and be like the kids I used to watch.

If you play other sports, which is your favorite and why?
I would have to say football is my favorite sport. It always has been, even though I’ve played both my whole life. But after our season this year in football, I’d say I like football more.

What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned from high school sports?
The most valuable lesson I’ve learned is to not give up on your team. There are a lot of things that can happen and you have to learn to never give up with the people you are playing with. I love to be a leader on the team, it helps you stay strong with your team and keep everyone together.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
My dad talks with me before every game and we pray together before every game. Honestly, that’s what gets me going and helps me get threw the tough games.

What has been your favorite high school memory so far?
My favorite memories in my high school career are when we won state in basketball and football both years we went undefeated. Not many people get to experience state, but to get to win it in both sports is crazy!

What coaches or teachers have made the biggest impact on your athletic career?
Growing up, I used to go to every practice and be the water boy for every game while Mr. Franklin was the coach. He always made an impact on me as a coach and a friend. He used to teach me little things while the team was running or while the JV  game was going. He made a huge impact on my life because he was one of the greatest people to ever talk to me about sports or life.

Which teammates have you really connected with during high school?
I’ve connected with a lot of teammates over the years and can’t say I have a favorite. But all of my teammates have been so good to me and have been awesome. I’ve played basketball and football with Chance Gaskill as my teammate ever since we were very little. I love competing with him because we have different jobs in both of the sports play we play and we just make each other better by watching each other. Chance has been there the longest!

Is there anyone in your family who has helped you get to where you are today?
My siblings have helped me get to where I am because I’m the youngest, so I get to learn from all of them. Watching my brother helped me learn what mistakes not to make and what good decisions to make.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I want to get back to where we were last year. I want to get to the hard games and play because they’re better for you as a player and it’s better for your team.
