Day 1 of the 2014 Real Dairy Shootout has been completed... and boy, what a day it was!
As always, there were a few things that we always seem to get at the State Tournaments:
- Overtime games (a single, double, and triple OT game)
- Close games (8 games decided by 5 points or less yesterday)
- Upsets (of course, that's a relative term subjective on your point-of-view)
- Chocolate milk comas (this is a very real issue, but a good one!)
A lot of great matchups are on tap today. Unfortunately for 12 teams, this will be their final game of the season, even if they don't know it just yet. It's do-or-die time on the Consolation side of the bracket.
Even on the Championship side, it's do-or-die as well... but in a different sense. It's "win-and-you're-in" to the State Championship games at the Idaho Center or be relegated to the 3rd place game. I can't wait to see what our high school athletes have in store for us today: we are in for a real treat of great basketball.
As for my picks for Day 1, I went 16/24 on my selections. Not horrible, not the best, but that's okay... this is why we PLAY the games! What we see on paper may not equal what comes out on the court, because stats don't account for heart and determination. In the end, picking these games is all for fun!
