Team Preview

The Trojans finished 7-13 last season, the first under head coach Derek Reagan, who was an assistant at Troy the previous two seasons.

"It is a second year trying to implement new coaching philosophies with these players," Reagan said.

Back for Troy are Whitney Fredrickson, a 6-foot senior center; Leah Bafus, a 5-4 senior guard; Brittany Hosley, a 5-4 senior guard; Erica Case, a 5-6 junior guard/forward; Jimmie Gilder, a 5-2 sophomore guard; and Emma Schetzle, a 5-7 freshman forward.

The Trojans lost a couple of senior leaders to graduation in guard Ashley Bull and guard-forward Sidney Halseth.
Finding more offensive consistency is a goal this year, Reagan said.

He said the Trojans have "a rounded roster with several experienced guards (Bafus, Case, Gilder, Hosley) and a couple interior options (Fredrickson, Schetzle).
Reagan wants the Trojans to be a better rebounding team than they were last year.

"We have good individual defensive players," he said. "We need to have better team defensive practices."

Reagan said the "X-factor" to his team's success this season is "finding offensive consistency -- either a couple of individuals stepping up, or the team getting contributions from several players."

Reagan said he likes coaching high school basketball because of "the ability to help young individuals pursue goals on and off the court."

His school is the best place to coach for, he said, because of "the tradition and community in Troy."
